Jerk Brown Sugar and Fig Glazed Salmon with Garlic-Ginger Sautéed Purple String Beans
by: Kareena Lee-Edwards
I came up with the Jerk Brown Sugar Fig Salmon recipe by blending my Jamaican heritage with my love for Asian cuisine. Caribbean flavors are at the heart of all my dishes, and I wanted to infuse them with the sweet and savory elements of Asian cooking. This dish also adds a sophisticated touch with figs and a brown sugar glaze, creating something unique yet easy to prepare. It’s the perfect fusion of bold, familiar flavors with an elevated twist. This dish features a sauce that is highly versatile, making it perfect for anyone’s dietary needs, whether you’re vegan, pescatarian, or following a low-carb diet. It’s all about delivering bold, balanced flavors that can be enjoyed by everyone. Remember you will never know until you try Just A Little Bit!
The 2024 Snellville Farmers Market Recipe Challenge was a fantastic success, bringing together local culinary talent and fresh ingredients to celebrate the vibrant flavors of our community. Participants showcased their creativity, crafting unique and delicious recipes featuring produce and goods from the market. After much deliberation, our panel of judges selected the top winners, each dish impressive with its originality, taste, and use of locally sourced ingredients. The event not only highlighted the importance of supporting local farmers but also inspired new ways to enjoy the bounty of Snellville’s seasonal harvests.

Sourdough Cinnamon Roll Peach Cobbler
by: S Michael Robinson
Ever since I was a kid, peach cobbler has been my favorite dessert! I cherish this dessert because my mom always makes it over the holidays. The warm spiced filling paired with the crusty topping is a match made in heaven! However, over the years, I’ve grown a fondness for making breads and pastries, in particular, cinnamon rolls. It is my favorite dessert…hands down! As I thought about this challenge a dessert was the first thing that came to mind, and then it clicked, why not fuse the two together? It was then the idea of a cinnamon roll peach cobbler was born.
As I shopped for ingredients, peaches, eggs, and pecans were a no-brainer. However, I wanted to take my brioche rolls to another level and make my dish unique. That’s when I saw the golden potatoes and knew that was the secret ingredient I needed.
My wife has been asking me to make a peach cobbler for the longest and surprisingly, I’ve yet to make her one before this contest. I’ve made her every type of cinnamon roll imaginable, but never a peach cobbler. So, thanks to the Snellville Farmers Market, her wish has come true!
